Lets warp back into space, zap about 100 years into the past. The Homo sapiens species has become segregation between male and female. Woman are often criticized "socially, politically, and professionally". The male ego has created theoretical assumptions that women can't compete, and aren't as good as men. Scientifically speaking, some parts are true, men are adapted and design to be physically bigger and stronger. However; scientifically proven that women is clearly mentally able to have the same capacity as men. Like the ancient Greeks once proclaim, the superior of men and prejudice towards women.
"Silence gives the proper grace to women", in the aforementioned quote by Sophocles, this is clearly the works of feminism criticism. In this present day, women have their rights according to the 19th amendment under the constitution. In addition, one of the many famous women to present is Clepatra," the last Ptolemaic ruler of Egypt. Cleopatra sought to defend Egypt from the expanding Roman Empire. In doing so she formed relationships with 2 of Rome’s most powerful leaders Marc Anthony and Julius Caesar".
Another important writer goes to this dedicated women, Jane Austen. During the past struggles, women were criticized and rejected for publishing their works. Without the bravery of one women, like Jane Austen herself, she wrote about pride and prejudice. She helped influence many female writers, as there were hardly any due to discrimination. Women during this time era, would sometimes change their names, identifying themselves with males names to help protect their privacy and their social being.
Politically today women are criticized everyday. It took many years to give women the opportunity to vote today. In history to this date, we the United States of America has never had a female president. It is not impossible, however; our modern criticism help us to visualize a typical president : Male, good looking, and economically successful. In the lens of feminism women should be viewed with equality and be perceived as any other individual.
So far so good. But how are you going to use these insights to critique the novel?
